Fundraiser dinner for victims of the Festival Tragedy on 4/26/ 2025 in Vancouver

BC Cultural Diversity Association Joins Community in Fundraising Dinner for Lapu-Lapu Filipino Festival Tragedy Victims.

On May 14, 2025, the BC Cultural Diversity Association, led by President Violet Chan, Vice-President Dave S. Hayer, Treasurer Brea Huang Sami, Director Don Mackenzie, and many other community leaders, members, including Malcolm Brodie, Mayor of Richmond and Catherine Yuen attended a heartfelt fundraising dinner held in Vancouver in support of the victims of the recent Lapu-Lapu Filipino Festival Tragedy on 4/26.

The evening began with a prayer and a moment of silence to honor the lives lost and those injured on April 26,2025 . The tragic incident involved a truck ramming that resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals and injuries to dozens more who were attending Lapu-Lapu Filipino Festival in Vancouver on 4/26.

Hundreds of community members from diverse organizations came together for the event, held at the Continental Seafood Restaurant in Richmond. Attendees included representatives from various Rotary Clubs, such as:

Mateo Caparas, Past President, Rotary Club of Vancouver-Mountainview

Jim Ling, President 2024–2025, Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset

The gathering was a powerful demonstration of community solidarity and compassion, with all present united in their support for the victims, their families, and friends affected by the tragedy.
